COBTH Statement on the verdict in the derek chauvin trial

"This week's guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd provides a measure of accountability in response to racist violence that exists in our country. We join the entire health care community in expressing our continued sympathies to the family and loved ones of George Floyd.

"Racism is a public health crisis, and there is much more work to be done. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to working with our members to actively respond to the public health crisis of systemic racism; to achieve health equity in our academic medical centers - in the care we provide, in our research, and in our role as educators; and to work purposefully with our partners to eliminate the systemic racial, social, and economic injustice that persists across our nation."
