Domestic Violence Council
Co-chairs
  • Lisa Hartwick - Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
  • Tina Nappi - Brigham and Women's Hospital

The Domestic Violence Council was created by COBTH member CEOs in 1995 to address the issue of domestic violence (DV). After studying multiple aspects of this serious problem, the Council made a series of recommendations on how:

  • COBTH member hospitals could raise awareness at all levels of their institutions about DV;
  • COBTH could enhance collaboration among member hospitals and community agencies;
  • communication and partnership with community organizations could be improved

The Council includes representation from COBTH hospitals as well as the Boston Public Health Commission, the MA Department of Public Health, and other community organizations. Council members meet monthly around an agenda covering a wide range of DV issues related to member hospital domestic violence programs.

The Domestic Violence Program Client Feedback Form

The Domestic Violence Program Client Feedback Form or “Client Feedback Form” is a client progress measure developed by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health in partnership with four healthcare-based domestic violence programs in the Boston area: the AWAKE Project at Children's Hospital, the Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Community Advocacy Program of CCHERS, Inc., and HAVEN at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Other members of the COBTH Domestic Violence Council also provided guidance in the development of the form.

The Client Feedback Form may be used to facilitate advocacy work with clients and to evaluate program outcomes.  While the Client Feedback Form was originally designed for use in healthcare-based domestic violence programs, any program providing on-going services to adult survivors of partner abuse may find it useful.

The Client Feedback Form is available for programs to use at no charge, however, we would appreciate it if you would let us know if your program is planning to use the form.  This is helpful as we are continuing to study the acceptability and validity of the Client Feedback Form in different populations.  To inform us that you are planning to use the form or for further information, please contact Dr. Jeanne Hathaway at 617-384-8738.

Please review the following guidelines before using the Client Feedback Form:
