COBTH Domestic Violence Council

Comprised of a representatives from each COBTH member hospital, the Community Benefit Committee meets regularly:

• To ensure ongoing communication with city and state health departments, as well
as other government agencies that have a role in public health and/or oversight of
community benefits programs. This includes, but is not limited to, the Massachusetts
Department of Public Health, the Boston Public Health Commission, and the Attorney General’s Office. As a regular agenda item, updates and any specific issues involving these agencies are reported on and discussed at each meeting and includes inviting representatives from these and other organizations to attend meetings.

• To work collaboratively to address public health issues within the greater
Boston area, as appropriate. The Committee serves as a forum for discussing priority-setting, public health policy issues, financial and other resource requirements, program development and evaluation.

• To share “best practices” in community benefits programs in terms of community empowerment, public health/medical service delivery, program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
